Vickie Armstrong and Paul McAleese are due to marry on June 7 this year. Paul, 28, works at Pirelli and is originally from Irthington while Vickie, 26, is a hairdresser at Boyd Hair and Beauty and is from Carlisle.
The couple, who live in Currock, Carlisle, met five-and-a-half years ago while on a night out in the city.
They got engaged in November 2006 while in the Lake District and spent the night at Armathwaite Hall but didn’t start planning the wedding until the following January.
They will be getting married at St James’ Church in Denton Holme and the ceremony will be followed by a reception at the Shepherd’s Inn, Carlisle.
Vickie said: “We really like the church and Paul’s parents got married in the first week in June and we wanted to do the same.
“The Shepherd’s Inn was our first choice for our reception because we know what it is like and it is easy to get to from the church.”
Looking for her dress was one of the first things Vickie did and her chosen dress was one of the first she tried on.
She said: “I did try others on afterwards but I think you know when you have found the right one.”
Vickie will have five bridesmaids – two of her best friends, two cousins and her goddaughter.
She will be leaving for the church from her mum Susan’s house on Derwent Gardens, Carlisle, and her dad Raymond will be walking her down the aisle.
Paul’s best friend Mark Butler will be best man.
There are 130 guests expected at the wedding, with family coming from Runcorn and Bradford.
The flowers and vintage wedding cars have all been booked and the couple are now resuming their wedding planning after a break from it over Christmas.
“We will start organising the remaining details in January,” said Vickie. “We still have the favours and invitations to choose.”
Paul’s mum Susan will be making the wedding cake.
The couple are hoping to book their honeymoon in the near future and they have decided on the destination of Miami and the Bahamas.
