Seaton make county final

SEATON Girls are through to the final of the U14 County Cup where they’ll meet Abbeytown - a date and venue for which has yet to be fixed.
In the semi-finals Seaton, who don’t play in a league, took on Penrith who are second in the Carlisle Glass League.
Played on Netherhall’s all-weather pitch, the game started off with both teams looking nervous not wanting to concede the first goal.
But Seaton began to get on top and after some fine saves from the Penrith keeper, Claire Blackburn hit a thunderous shot that flew into the left corner to put Seaton into the lead.
Seaton were controlling the game now and pushing hard for a second but were hit by a sucker punch as Penrith cleared with a long ball out of defence and equalised.
In the second half Seaton continued to press and the pressure again told with Blackburn scoring a brilliant individual goal by chipping the goalie from 15 yards out.
Seaton were well in control now using the size of the pitch to out pass their opponents and wrapped up the game with a well-worked passing move from midfield out to the right wing and on to Sarah Goodhall to shoot hard and low.
The Penrith goalie nearly saved but the power of the shot took the ball over the line to make the final score 3-1 to Seaton.
If Seaton - who are sponsored by Workington firm Pentagon Chemicals and Chow Yip, the owner of Seaton’s Kowloon Takeaway - win the county final they would go on to represent Cumbria in a regional competition in Manchester.
