HOW THEY MET: During a cancer fundraising event. Christopher sent Lisa a rose at work the following day in June 2000.

PROPOSAL: As Christopher was leaving to go back into the Marines on September 2, 2002, he got down on one knee and popped the question.

VENUE: St Michael’s Church, Workington on July 21, 2007.

THEME: White and deep red roses.

BRIDE’S OUTFIT: A white gown decorated with crystals, a cathedral-length veil and crystal tiara all from Dresses and Dreams, Workington.

GROOMSMEN: The bride’s brother Paul West and best friend Wayne Thom were both best men. Steven Beverly, Paul Wells, Phillip Bold and the groom’s cousin Greame Morgan were ushers. The groom wore a white Prince Edward suit with a burgundy ruche. The groomsmen wore similar outfits with black suits and white shirts from Burtons.

BRIDESMAIDS: The bride’s sister-in-law Tanya McCalister, 28, Kaye Smith, Sarah Foster, and the groom’s sisters Claire Murphy, all 24, and Caroline Murphy, 18, were bridesmaids. They wore red shimmering dresses. Tyler Cook and Alyssa Williams were flowergirls and wore white dresses.

FLOWERS: Bouquets of white and red roses. Tyler had a basket of rose petals.

TRANSPORT: A white and red Beauford and Daimlers from Higham’s Wedding Services. Buses in the evening were provided by Brownriggs.

RECEPTION: Champagne reception, three-course meal and evening buffet at Hunday Manor Country House Hotel, Workington for 160 guests. Harpist Fiona Austen played throughout.

TABLE SETTINGS: Round paper lanterns with balloons and scattered roses.

FAVOURS: Rose boxes with gems and a scroll explaining their meaning for the ladies; and top hat boxes with chocolates for the men.

CAKE: A white, three-tier cake wrapped in red ribbon and decorated with gems and tall roses from the Bridal House, Maryport.

FIRST DANCE: Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler.

ENTERTAINMENT: A disco by Highams.

HONEYMOON: Riviera Maya, Mexico.
