JULIE Skillicorn, 31, a building manager, and Wayne Denwood, 28, a shift process operator, live in Whitehaven.
They got married on Antigua – in a gazebo decorated with palms and local flowers overlooking the Caribbean Sea with a steel band playing in the background. They had a white satin ring cushion with a heart of Swarovski crystals and their initials and the date of their wedding on it. It was made by Olivier Laudus, of London, who also made Katie Price and Peter Andre’s ring cushion.
HOW THEY MET: While working at Sellafield in 2004.
PROPOSAL: During a romantic meal while they were on holiday in Menorca on July 8, 2006.
VENUE: Blue Waters Hotel, Antigua on January 23, 2008.
THEME: Ivory and baby pink.
BRIDE’S OUTFIT: An ivory Je T’aime gown with a sweetheart neckline and a diamante-encrusted bodice from Olivia James Bridal, of Egremont.
GROOM’S OUTFIT: Wayne wore a ivory suit, a baby pink waistcoat and ruche tie from Civvy Street in Workington.
FLOWERS: A tear-drop bouquet of ivory and pink roses.
RECEPTION: A meal in the hotel’s restaurant where a table had been specially decorated for the couple. The hotel wedding coordinator announced them as wedding couple of the month for the Blue Waters Hotel. On their return they had a small family gathering at the bride’s parents’ home.
FAVOURS: Personalised, scented candles given to their family and friends at the party on their return.
CAKE: A four-tier cake made of fruit, chocolate and sponge layers decorated in white icing with silver decorations – made by Sue Archer for their reception at home.
HONEYMOON: Sun Island, the Maldives.
